Circular Economy HUB
We collect decommissioned computers from companies and arrange for the hard disks to be cleaned and re-configure the hardware according to the requirements of our end-users.
The computers are then shipped to Kenya where they are refurbished and sold. The pre-owned computers go on to support educational, medical, entrepreneurial and social projects.
Close the Gap Hub
In Mombasa, we’ve launched more than just a co-working space but a tech incubator with programs like the LEAP2 challenge. The Leap 2 is part of our new strategy that supports young African entrepreneurs developing and scaling digital solutions for societal issues.
We have a diverse range of spaces, including meeting rooms, our makerspace and the Close the Gap Café that work to meet your working needs. Our spaces are available through booking.
We also have a makerspace in Mombasa, fully-fitted with 3D printers and other prototyping equipment to assist enterprenuers bring their ideas to life.
The focus of the Mombasa hub is to drive impact along three key pillars: Learning, Business and Technology.
Three different types of educational programmes are offered:
1. Vocational training on e-waste and ICT
2.Training programmes for organisations on e-waste management and circular economy principles.
3. Specialised training programmes such as coding, data management and manufacturing drones.
Through an incubation programme on the one hand and events on the other hand, we support young local entrepreneurs. More concretely, this support is offered through coaching, co-working spaces, co-creation, hackathons, Leap² Innovation challenges and Demo days.
Our maker space is fully fitted with crafting tools and machines including CNC machines and 3D printers, and also offers training and workshops.
